This is an example of one of the smaller side projects I work on between bigger assignments.

Each year, the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam runs a competition inviting designers to create products to promote the museum and its vast collection, with the possibility of having them sold in the museum’s gift shop. Entrants can draw inspiration from any piece in the museum’s collection.

After exploring the museum a few times and combing through the Rijksstudio library online, I ended up choosing a rather obvious painting as inspiration for a couple of contemporary nightshirts. Perfect for relaxing after a long day traipsing around a massive museum.

Despite making it to the top ten finalists from thousands of entries—and even crafting an awesome video to introduce myself and the idea—I ended up with nothing more than a bunch of flowers. Oh well, goedenacht!
